The Great Debate

Hi critters, Oswald here!

Today is a beautiful day for a debate at the lodge! Don’t fret, it is going to be a very friendly, fun debate. I want to know which type of toothbrush everyone uses here at the lodge…and WHY!? So, there you have it, we are going to have a debate…electric toothbrushes vs. manual toothbrushes! BRING IT ON.

We all know that brushing is BEST, no matter if you are using an electric toothbrush, or a manual one. However, you may prefer one over the other for a variety of reasons. Today we are going to go through the PROS and CONS of electric vs. manual toothbrushes.

Electric Toothbrush Pros:
• Studies show they are more effective at removing plaque
• Easier to use for those who have limited mobility
• Built in timers
• Reduces waste
• Useful for those with orthodontic appliances
• Fun for kids!
• Pressure sensors

Electric Toothbrush Cons:
• Higher initial monetary investment
• Require cords/batteries
• Larger to travel with
• Can be a sensory concern for those who do not like the vibration
• More messy

Manual Toothbrush Pros:
• If using correctly, can be just as effective as an electric toothbrush
• Easily accessible
• Affordable
• Less messy

Manual Toothbrush Cons:
• No built-in timer
• No pressure sensor

Of course, the best toothbrush is whichever one that you or your kids will use! Make sure to chat with your hygienist or Dr. Wullbrandt at your next visit to discuss options. There is something for everyone!
