FLOSS! Time to stock up and brush up

Hi folks! Where has the time gone?! I can’t believe we are headed towards Thanksgiving! Time for me to start thinking about cozying up in my nice warm beaver dam and stocking up for winter. I hope you are doing the same! What’s one important thing to stock up on? FLOSS!

Even though I only have two teeth to floss 😉 I still find it difficult at times to remember or do it correctly. Dr. Zach and I were chatting about some helpful tips to make sure my flossing is really helping. Check them out below:

Using a mirror can be very helpful when you first start so that you can see the spots that you are cleaning
It might feel tricky at first, but once you build a habit and establish a routine you will be able to get it done in no time
HOW you floss is important!
Make sure you go in order: Start on the top in the back and go in a C shape to get between every tooth! Don’t do it randomly or you might miss some… Think of it like a train track that chugs along your mouth in one curved line
Don’t saw back and forth, go up and down between where your teeth touch and your gums… Think of it like a bunny jumping up and down and not a snake that slithers back and forth
Find what works for you! Floss sticks can be helpful or regular floss from a box. Whatever you do, make sure you don’t run out and ask your hygienist or dentist at Children’s Dental Care in Keene for help if you have any questions about how to do it!

While flossing can be challenging and might feel like a chore, your teeth and gums will thank you and you can help prevent cavities from growing and keep your gums healthy all through the winter and beyond!!

Stay FLOSSY my friends,
Oswald
