Bond, Dental Bond 007
Hi Critters,
Oswald here!
007 coming at you here with today’s topic… Dental Bonding! What is a dental bonding? Who needs one?
There can be a few reasons why one may need a dental bonding.
- Repair chipped teeth
- Enhance the coloring of a discolored tooth
- Close gaps or spaces between teeth
- Changing the shape of teeth
- Fill cavities
A dental bonding is a tooth-colored material that ‘bonds’ or adheres to the tooth structure to correct imperfections. This material can also be used for an aesthetic filling material on any anterior or posterior tooth.
The dental bonding process at Children’s Dental Care 113 Railroad Street Keene NH:
The exam: at your child’s dental cleaning, Dr. Wully or Dr. Zach will perform an exam. At this exam it will be determined if your child is a candidate for dental bonding!
Either for cosmetic bonding, or for a resin filling due to decay, the process is similar. We first start with cleaning the tooth really well with our prophy angle and pumice paste. Next, we apply a thin layer of etch to roughen up the surface of the tooth. This allows the composite material to stick to the tooth! After some shaping and carving, the bonding looks just like your child’s natural tooth shape. Once the shape is perfected, it is light cured by a UV light. Be extra careful not to look at the blue light when it is in use.
Dental bonding can last for years and years. Make sure to take proper care of your teeth and fillings by keeping up with your oral care routine. Brush, floss, and mouthwash daily!
Schedule your initial exam with Dr. Wully or Dr. Zach at 113 Railroad Street Keene NH.
Stay flossy,
Oswald 🙂
