Ready, Set, Shop!

Hi Critters, Oswald here!

HAPPY holiday season to all! We have officially entered my favorite time of year. Make sure you pop into Children’s Dental Care to see the beautiful Christmas decorations! Tis’ the season filled with holiday cheer, family, friends, and laughter. We have already started with the hustle and bustle of this holiday season. We have menu’s being planned for Christmas day, and of course are already thinking of gift ideas for friends and family. You know we are BIG oral health folks around here. So I thought, hey, let’s share some of my holiday gift ideas with all my friends here on the blog. There is no better gift, than the gift of a healthy smile!

Electric toothbrushes are always a popular choice. We recommend the brand Sonicare. There are some great steals right now on amazon. They even have kid friendly options too!

Another great gift idea is a Waterpik water flosser. We sell professional level Waterpik’s in office for a fraction of the price you’d find online! Make sure you ask your friendly hygienist’s or our office manager the next time you are in. We highly recommend these as gift ideas, especially if you have braces. They help blast plaque, food debris, and bacteria out of there…what a gift! You can also find some great battery powered options right from amazon.

And we can’t forget about those stocking stuffers! Here are some of my top picks to fill up those stockings this season:

Tongue Scrapper: Make sure to clean your tongue, DAILY! These tongue scrapper are excellent tools for removing that stinky slime layer that can collect on top of your tongue. The cleaner the tongue, the cleaner the breath 😉

Fluoride Toothpaste: We love this brand of toothpaste because it contains fluoride which helps maintain strong teeth, but also has a very gentle and mild mint flavor.  No burning taste, which is always a fan favorite!

Whitening Strips: We get this question all the time…”how can I get whitener teeth!?” These whitening strips from Crest are a safe and effective option to whiten those smiles. The only downfall is you may experience a bit of sensitivity when using them, so proceed with caution if you already struggle with sensitive teeth. Another easy way to keep your teeth bright is by drinking a lot of water and less coffee, tea, soda, and juice. Staying away from food and drinks that cause staining can make your teeth look and remain whitener for a longer length of time.

Mouth rinse: Mouth rinses are a great addition to your oral care routine. I recommend swishing with a Fluoride mouth rinse after brushing your teeth at night, right before bed. You’ll also want to avoid drinking water after so the fluoride can do the work all night long!

Kids Fluoride Toothpaste: Watermelon and bubblegum flavored toothpastes must be the top two requests we get from kids here! This is an excellent brand of toothpaste. They have a great tasting product that kids want to use, all without compromising the key ingredients to keep your teeth thriving.

Flossers: I think we can all agree that floss piks are way easier to use than traditional string floss, right? Fill those stockings up with some piks…after all, they are essential to a healthy smile.

Sugar-free gum: Who doesn’t love gum!? We recommended gum to our patients here too…but only after we give you all the facts. Sugar-free gum is the only type of gum you should be chewing. And to make it even better… you can try a gum with xylitol in it. Xylitol can reduce the decay-causing bacteria that is found in our saliva. It also helps stimulate saliva, which is a natural buffer against tooth decay. Cool, right!?

Happy shopping, friends! Make sure to come see me in the back of the office this holiday season to show off your goodies. I’ll be the one wearing a Santa hat and decked in holiday cheer!

Stay flossy,

Oswald
