Gobble, Gobble!
Hi critters, Oswald here!
The holidays are right around the corner… and we like to celebrate BIG. Thanksgiving is a time for family, friends, and of course good food! Yum! What is your favorite item at the thanksgiving table? Mine is turkey, of course! We are lucky, Thanksgiving food is filled with nutrients. Turkey is filled with protein, vitamin B, and zinc, and dark leafy greens are jammed packed with vitamin A, C, K, and folate. These vitamins are critical to keep your immune system up and running…which is a big bonus this time of year 😉 Thanksgiving side dishes such as spinach and green beans and others such as carrots and broccoli are great additions to your diet, and to your thanksgiving plate!
But, what foods should we be weary of on Thanksgiving Day? Anything with a lot of starch can be a bit scary for our teeth. That could be stuffing, mashed potatoes, and bread…oh my! I know everyone’s favorite dish at the lodge is…drumroll please…sweet potato casserole! I mean, sweet potatoes, butter, syrup, and marshmallows!? What is not to love, right?! Although this is a fan fav of mine, and maybe yours too, just remember the scary amount of sugar in dishes like these. Now, I would never tell you not to indulge on these dreamy delights on Thanksgiving day, but just remember to do your part to care for your teeth afterwards.
Holidays are so much fun, but always remember not to skimp out on your oral health routine that you strive so hard to maintain. Remember to peel yourself of that couch after your meal and brush. those. teeth! Flossing is just as important too… especially to get pieces of your delicious meal out from in between your teeth!
So, what are you thankful for this year? This year, I am thankful for my health, family, my warm cozy lodge, and of course, the connection I get to make with all of you! Make sure you come by to see me in the back of Children’s Dental Care this month to tell me what YOU are thankful for.
Happy Thanksgiving, gobble gobble!
Stay flossy,
Oswald
