Tik Tok, Tik Tok!

Hi critters, Oswald here!

Tik tok, tik tok, it’s time to switch out your toothbrush! With the new year in full swing, let’s make sure we stay on top of our dental health game. A great and easy resolution or goal to have this year, is to stay on top of changing out your toothbrush on a regular basis. What is a proper length of time to use a toothbrush for? The rule of thumb is to change out your toothbrush, or toothbrush head, every 3 months. This is typically the length of time it takes for toothbrush bristles to start fraying. If they start to fray before the 3-month mark, then you may be brushing too hard. Remember, the gentler you are brushing, the better! After all, toothbrushes aren’t cheap ya know 😉.

You also want to change your toothbrush out anytime you are sick. Just like you have germs when you are sick, those germs can transfer over to your toothbrush too! Ick! So, to stay healthy and clean, you’ll want to throw away that old germy toothbrush, and start fresh after you are feeling better.

And I don’t know about you, but my kids get a kick out of changing out their toothbrush every few months. The task of picking out a new color or a new character is a great way to keep kids engaged in their daily brushing routine.

An easy way to remember this is to set a quick 3-month reminder in your phone! That way you can easily stay on top of your toothbrush game and always maintain fray-free bristles. Good luck!

Stay flossy,

Oswald
